which model surf

can somebody please explain the different model surfs and what you get from the basic models to the all singing and dancing models, only interested in 3.0 models if that makes any difference

Do you mean the trim spec or the different generations of Surf?

ie; SSRX, SSRG etc or do you mean 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen etc?

3.0's will be 93-95 for 2nd Gens, or 96-2001 for 3rd GENS.

The actual trim levels make very little difference, if you want Recaro seat then you need a SSR-G, the rest are very random, SSR-X are the most numorous, most are Limiteds.

There seems to be no reliable scheme to whats what, as I've seen all the trim models, SR, SSR, SSR-V SSR-X, SSR-G, etc...all with different kit. Its really up to you if you want a sunroof, rear spoiler and wind deflectors etc...Just find a truck you like and go with it.

options to find are (off top of head)

LSD (don't worry to much, most are worn out)
Tyres (265 or 31's, easily altered)
Sunroof
Rear spoiler
Wind deflectors
Winter pack (heated seats, heated mirrors, not just 2 batteries like most dealers will tell you!! and there is 'cold climate' truck with a just heated fuel filter head as well)
Cruise control
wheel arch extentions (so called wide body)
rear or underslung spare
the very last year of 2nd Gens often don't have door activated front courtesy lights, or adjustable shocks
Electric windows (all but the very base Surf have then, and not sure there was any 3.0's without them, only seen 2.4's)
6 speaker stereo, plus tweeters in front door trims

and probably more I can't remember.
