I have numerous lights on my dash light up along with the ignition buzzer on, had a quick check on the earth from alternator to body and all seems fine, gave it a quick tap with a brush handle and still the same does this mean my alternator is buggered?

Yep. New brushes and bearings may fix it.

when this happened to me
i reconned my alternator cost 65 quid fixed it tho

forgot to mention it still runs fine, starts as it should, heater on, lights on etc. when i get to around 2000rpm the lights go out and the buzzer stops. Tried coming home from work without dropping below 2000rpm but its not that easy

if you have not done it already, check the belts.

belts checked mate, they were all changed anyway when the cambelt and waterpump was done

forgot to say the odometer has stopped working too
