  • To those that have fitted LC springs...

Did you require an extended rear hose to drop the axle enough to fit the springs without using compressors?? I have seen a couple of pictures on here where people like bushwhacker have unbolted the brake line clips from the axle. I did this and I found the T piece that connects the hose to the axle line would not move as much as these pictures show and I don't want to bend the pipe it as it will probably pinch or crack!

You'll want the longer hose anyway if you offroad it won't you? Roughtrax do the front and back kit for 40 odd quid i think.

I was going to make a spacer for the axle/hose T connector when the springs are fitted, more just a question of is their enough slack in the original brake hose to get the LC springs in!

I have a set of spring compressors but was rather hoping to get the LC springs in without using them as they are so solid....I don't want anything exploding in my face!

just do them up 2 or 3 turns at a time and you will be fine have a wee bit of trust in yourself

Seem to remember you dont need to compress them too much if you get a fat bloke to stand on your hub while you put them in.

And remove the bolt in the upper control arm on the driver's side so it doesn't hit the tank when the axle is pushed down.

I've never needed to do that.

Yeah, better than spring compressors, but put the handbrake on, or the drum will turn, he'll slip and sit on you.

Good tips, thanks guys! I was going to have a crack at it today but surprise surprise....it's raining. Still might have a go later, should only take couple hours if everything goes smoothly!

Is it worth unbolting the handbrake pipe clips to gain some extra flexibility??

Bushwhacker..... Did you get a chance to post those brackets yet??

Same here, there's no such thing as first class post anymore, some days we don't get any even though I know it has been sent.
I'm convinced the postman doesn't bother walking up our road unless he's got a bagfull of mail.

Have you ever been standing by the front door when a "Sorry, we missed you!" card gets posted through the letterbox?
