legendgamesmaster i resent that its not PS3 its Xbox from what i have seen

I agree with you andy. I come from the "affluent" south. I've worked in the "deprived" north for a year. Let me say tight now, that the sterotype fits in both regions. Unemployment is really beginning to bite over here on the west coast. The small one man bands are dissapearing at an alarming rate, people are extremely worried about work. There is though no real huge, migrant issue.(except me maybe)
Cue the rich "sarf east"... Which is a completely wrong impression. I live within a few miles of tintin. He's worked his spuds off for years. He finds hisself struggling for work and to make ends meet. We on the other hand have a massive migrant population. Much info is available , freely, to show who gets what and how services, schools, the nhs etc is affected by a large influx. During financially worrying tines, pressure on local services is multiplied, especially when tax receipts fall. Immigration IS a political hot cookie. Burying your head in the sand, denying any issues exist or calling old ladies bigoted, will not allay peoples fears. It's not racist or bigoted to worry, again especially during a recession, about how the system can cope.

And I'm not voting for apache...his cars gay.

As a non EU immigrant I can tell you the process for us is pretty long winded and expensive(btw Im from a commonwealth country and my wife is english). By the time I have achieved permanent residency I will have spent nearly £2000. I can work, I can pay taxes but I cant get any help off the governtment if im made redundent. From what Ive seen so far the amount of red tape to get through to get alot of low income jobs makes it not worth getting off the sofa for like £400 to do an SIA licence to work as a door man. When I was working as a doorman at a casino in NZ it was going to cost me $300NZD to get an internationally recognised casino licence and that wasnt a must have but it would have put my pay from $15hr to $18hr.
Finding jobs at the moment is killer Im trained as an aircraft mechanic and in aerospace composites, I can weld and am pretty handy with cars aswell. So Im currently working in a shop selling military equipment, go figure. Im seriously looking a rejoining the military even though there is a few reasons Id rather not.
Well rant over its not just british citizens that a p####d off with the current govenrment lol

That,s because I didnt realise there was a point. I though it was just the rantings of a bigotted Daily Mail reader, and admit I was surprised that it didn,t end with the wish that Diana was still alive.

The social security system was set up to provide for those who, for whatever reason *cannot* provide for themselves. Be that inability to find work, ill health, whatever.

It is NOT there to support those who *decide* that they will claim social security rather than take a low paid job. Those who decide to breed like rabbits from the age of 14 with whoever, in order to get free housing.

Perhaps where you live, not much of this goes on. Where I live, it is apparently endemic. One only needs to walk the streets in the less nice parts of the Midlands during the 'working' day to see massive evidence of this.

Tightening up the requirements for immigration to those with skills we dont have will free up some of the less skilled jobs currently done by eastern europeans (fruit picking, hotel / bar work / building site labourers etc) for our lifestyle unemployed to take on.

This will free up some of the social security tax burden so those truly eligible (the long term sick, the unemployed LOOKING for work) are looked after properly.

All I want is a fair system which is less of an easy ride for scroungers, and supports those REALLY in need properly.

                very nicely put mate

Hope not. What happened to the old way of looking for a job.. It's as if theyre encouraging them to just stay at home.
