I've been informed there are a few different ratio LSD diffs (three?) for the 3.0 litre TD 2nd gen. Does anyone have any more info on this? I'm looking to fit an LSD as the standard diff in the 3.0 is no good.
only thing i can tell ya is
the LSD standard diff on the 1993 SSRG 2nd gen is pants too
i could do with full diff lockers
I agree it's not perfect, but at least I never span up one wheel in my SSRG when trying to pull away. 90% of the time I need to back off the throttle to get grip again (it's as if the back end is way too light, like a capri). I would feel more confident off road with an LSD at least.
I thought the LSD was pants as it needed a refurb. I'll most likely get that done if it's not toooooo expensive.
come to think of it
i have not span one wheel when pulling off too
only reason i say its pants is i have been stuck coz of it a few times
but then again maybe i push it a bit to far
i poped the seal on my diff last year that was easy to fix tho
I noticed in my SSRG that I managed to get one wheel static and the other spinning in the mud. I just thought it needed a diff oil change or was old and needed refreshing.
You can easily drift with that LSD though so it works, but it doesnt feel very nice. Feels like you're at sea
funny that tiz very like a boat
the local kids call my car
the boat or the underwater car
gives me a buzz that they love it
there must be 20 kids that i owe trips too off roading
has soon has its back on the road
i will have them lined up on the drive bugging me to go off roading
i buzz off them

You will with all but the tightest LSDs, and Toy ones arn't even new.
The LSD is nothing to do with gear ratio, you just need to find any 8" surf rear diff with matching ratio, and a LSD fitted, or if you're feeling brave, fit the LSD to your diff.
Oh, I got your PM, will answer later...got to go ride a horse now!

Ah. So I could fit the LSD part inside my current diff using the same crown? I've never ever taken a diff apart, I've always gotten gearbox rebuild shops to do that.

Yee haa.
Don't think so, for instance I have the 4 pinion LSD and as far as I'm aware you can't fit lockers to the LSD type which would suggest the housing is different?
So if mine is a LIMITED is'nt mine supposed to have an LSD? I didn't see a tag on the diff housing like I did on my 2.4, and I havent checked codes under the bonnet (will do tonight)
