An open diff, LSD, Locker, etc... all hold the ring gear, and the driveshafts go into them, they are the 'diff'. Thanks for all the info. Answers that make up a sentance are so much more helpful than single words.
I've just been reading up on the Toyota diff setup. Detroit lockers are quite expensive and a little out of my price range really. I've found another forum (australian I think) who have said these are quite good, and theyre cheaper:
