My dad who has pancreatic cancer had to go for 2 different scans last week.Today i took him and mum to hospital to see the specialist.Where a year ago they thought it was the killer cancer they now think that it is a very rare cancer of the pancreas 1 in a million get it.They need to do a biopsy in the next month or so just to confirm it and if so then they can then help to treat with medication. It won't save his life but it is going to give him a longer lifespan than they first thought. They can't give a time scale as it is a rare form of cancer and it has grown over the last year but at least there is a bit of good news for us and we may have a couple of years or so with him still.Just need to wait now for the biopsy etc to be done and then sort the treatments for him but god it was so good to hear the specialist say what he said.
You know it really p1ssed me off that our hospital has only just got the equipement to do this type of biopsy after so many years of patients having to travel up to 100m to have it done.I did say to the specialist and the student doctor that we need to get father to lose weight because when he goes i wont be able to carry his coffin because of my hip.We all had a good laugh about it
