Been doing alot of research and due to the TW@ in number 10 with his stupid red briefcase Derv is now over £1.20, im considering collecting and filtering WVO myself.
This is what I plan to do....... (if anybody can see a flaw in my method, or know a way to improve what I plan to do then please comment....plz be nice lol!!)
First of all im going to build a 3 tier filtration system comprising of 3 boxes, and then a final container at ground level to allow the WVO to settle.
The first box will have a pipe connecting to second box with an inline water filter/trap, and a old pair of ladies tights for a large particle filter on the end of the pipe.
The second box will have a pipe connecting it to the third box, with a 20 micron filter on the end of the pipe.
The third box will have a pipe connecting it to the last storage box which will be used to allow the WVO to settle, with a 5 micron filter (or muslin as this filters to 5 micron, so I have been told) on the end of the pipe.
I shall pour the WVO into the top (first container), it will then filter through the Tights, go into the second box, then filter through the 20 micron filter, then go into the third box and finally filter through the 5 micron filter, and then enter the last box for settlement.
From what I can gather its best to allow the final filtered oil to settle for 2-3 weeks before it will be ready for use.
Once it has settled, either add a drop of diesel, petrol, or white spirit to help thin the oil out, prior to putting it in the tank. Give it a good stir up and then its ready for use in the truck.
I hope what I plan to do is ok, please if anyone can see anything wrong with my Idea then please let me know.
