  • Rear Center Seat Belt

    Hi All
Due to an expanding family I was wondering if there is any way to fit a lap and diagonal belt in the center rear seat. Failing that does anyone want to buy a 94 3Ltr 166000ks

    Thanks

    Ollie

I'd say make a stout bar between the rear upper seatbelt mounts, then get a another rear belt and fix it upper mount to the bar, the lower two mounts can use the lap belt mounts that are already there.

Its not the kid that is the problem its the wife. If I had access to the facilities to do the mod I would but I dont and the wife is already cranky about how much I've spent on it.....shes found a 7 seat paj she likes the look of im off to look at tomorrow are they any good? At least its not a people mover.

Would the mod need engineering approval?

      Thanks

Easy solution. Sit your wife in the middle of the back seat and she can have access to all 3 other passenger seats to look after the kids!

Oh, and as Jeremy Kyle might say "put something on the end of it!" or that 7 seat Pajaro might be your future!

Edit: And while I think of it, the previous owner of my Surf had got a quote for a 7 seat conversion but I don't know where from. It was somewhere up in Hull if thats any help - I'm sure they'd be able to sort something out about putting a 3-point seat belt on the back seat of the Surf...

            How about this:

            http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-...tm_medium=feed

Fit it yourself and (I think) it should all be able to attach to the seat so it should be a fairly easy job...

            or even http://www.conversionspecialists.com/seat_belts/

If I used this it would need the inertia reel and the other end of the belt to go to the same bolt looped over the seat back I would be concerned in the event of a crash it would collapse the seatback.
Does any form of seat belt mod/install need to be certified to pass MOT?

              Thanks
