  • Surf from MALTA

Just poppin' in to say hi from this tiny island in the Mediterranean! Ok ok, so stop hating me coz I live in the constant sunshine!

I have the only V6 Surf on the island and one of the only 3 2-door Surfs as well. I know there's another V6 running around but not sure what it's fitted on since it came into the country as a half-cut!

I guess this is the only place I have to come for advice since nobody worked on V6 autos here, some don't even know such an engine existed on a 4 Runner! I keep getting questions like, "Why on earth did you fit a V6 on this?" and "Doesn't it waste too much petrol?" UFF! I hate stupid people!

    Anyway, nice meeting you all!!!!!!!!

    Dave

Yeah, location. I've been down that way on those trip things, but don't recognise the place name. Will make a point of visiting there next time we're over.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum! I've worked over in Sliema for a long weekend back in 2008. Met some very friendly people out in Paceville, I really enjoyed the time there.

People over there must love their cars. I have never seen so many MK1 and MK2 Ford Escorts all in one tiny area. Also see plenty of Hilux' driving around and parked up.

HAH! Yeah! We all love our cars! It's the cars that don't like us bikers though! But that's another story!

However I can see most of you would know their way around my country, so would you still need a beer guide when you're here?!

Yeah, Paceville is the busiest night club area in the country, you can stay out partying late, unlike UK, where you have to finish your beer by 2300hrs or you're chucked out of the pub! happened to me in Poole!
Regarding keeping the cars and trucks in good condition here, well, that's worth a thought there! We have a lot of salty humidity here so things tend to go rusty even just sitting in the garage, whereas there in UK, if something sits in the garage, it stays fine! Then again, to be able to preserve an old car over here, one must use it on a regular basis, otherwise as I said, everything corrodes! The main difference is that although UK is still an island so to speak, you don't get the sea water humidity we get over here coz you "island" is massive compared to ours, but then you get the salt on the roads when you get the black ice thing or whatever it is!

However, having said all this, you're all still most welcome to visit, but if you like t!tt!e$ and bikinis, I suggest you come in summer! You'll end up besides, the weather's much nicer in summer than in winter, although our winter has nothing to do with yours! For example we're already in T-shirts here!

You say that but when I was there in May it was windy and cloudy!
I'd like to dive over there some time. Tickets are £99 quid return.

Another thing I liked about Malta apart from the scenary, people, night clubs is they have British Standard plug sockets! (I'm a simple person )

You must've been really unlucky then mate, to be able to get wind and clouds in May, unless it was of course the 1st of May 08, which of course was one exceptionally windy day! I remember it well coz we had a biker party (a proper one! ;-) ) and things went a bit pear shaped due to the weather since it was open air!
As for British things over here, well as you may very well know, we were a British colony for many years before we became independent, so that explains a lot of English practices here, mainly our tea and milk, toast in the morning etc!
