  • Classical Music Question

A bit of a shot in the dark, but I'll ask anyway.

My uncle passed away a couple of days ago and my aunt would like a piece of music played at his funeral. But she can't remember what it's called. She thinks it's something like Schuan's Farewell, but she's not sure.

Do any of you know what it may be?

I think it'll be older, but can't be sure.

        Possibly operatic.

Can't help much, sorry about your loss.

It wasn't 'Der Hirt auf dem Felsen' was it? Schubert.

Don't suppose it could by this by Wagner?

Lohengrin: Mein lieber Schwan (Lohengrin's farewell) by Richard Wagner. Performer: Francisco Viñas (Tenor) Period: Romantic Written: 1847; Germany

Wagner might be a bit over-exciting for a funeral. Maybe Schumann's opus 84?

If it is Schumann, then take a look at this link.

You could try The Ashokan Farewell composed by Jay Ungar there are both instrumental and lyrical versions on Spotify.
                        I hope this helps.
