  • 1992 2.4 price query.

Hi folks a quicky for u. Been looking for a 3L but came across a good 2.4. Gonna have a look tue and possibly take the plunge. Price 1900.00. Is that a fair price for a genuine 1 owner in really good nick with low mileage?

Too much for a J reg 2.4 in my opinion, irrespective of what condition its in

Sounds a little steep to me mate. 1 careful owner, but how many did it have in the land of the rising sun ? But if it's in good nick with low miles could be a good motor. Nowt wrong with 2.4s if you dont cook em.

I paid £1,100 for my 91' Mudskipper thinks it may be younger than that, but it was a very shiny example with full service history (untill I got it muddy hehe)

Sounds a little steep but if it's well serviced and such.
TonyN posted a guide on what to look for when buying, certainly worth a read through first. Nothing wrong with the 2.4 engine, it's the cooling system that needs to be maintained and possibley modded.

I think its a little steep, but its on ebay and i could lose out if i try to be to clever. If its as good as the guy says, might just have to go for it. Just wanted to be sure you peeps didnt think i was nuts lol. Mileage is stated as 75000 miles. Good ones are hard to find especially as this one is only 25 miles away.

Pretty steep for a 2.4.. I'd only pay £1200 for a mint 2.4 and I'd expect all the extras and recaro interior for that.

Bear in mind that if it hasn't had the head replaced recently then you're in for a £800 - £1200 repair bill in the near future.

TBH there's so many on the market that it's worth holding out for a 3.0.

hold off and wait for a 3.0 for that money.I wouldn't want to pay over 13-1400 for a mint 2.4 to be honest

My mate just sold a 3.0 manual that needed maybe a couple of hundred spending on it for less than a grand.

                Thats a lot for a J plate!

Prices have been on the up lately, strange as it may seem.

Thanks for your advice. Will check its had new head fitted. If not will leave it. If it has new head will bid and not hit ,"buy now " button. Will limit my bid to a more sensible price. If im not successful will look for a 3L.

If it sells before i have chance to get a replacement bonnet then i will send a bonnet to the buyer to fit themselves.
I may even ebay it if it don't sell privately

Hi Stormforce - If I am not stepping on anyones toes I would buy that 2.4 for £800 in an instant so can I place first dibs on it?

Can you let me know truck mileage, year, auto/manual colour any rust etc etc?

Feel free to email me on rmuir@monster.co.uk with info.

I am too new to PM I think and apologies for slightly hijacking the thread but I have been after a Surf for sooooooo long and this could be it LOL

Not stepping on my toes - the missus would kill me if I bought another truck less than two months after selling the last one!
