rules of engagement suck they should never be. The taliban use it the thier advantage, shoot drop the weapon and walk and i mean walk away know that isaf cannot shoot back. My nephew was the 250th soldier killed in afgan he would not agree with the rules of engagment. I have been out in the gulf and siera leone and believe me what people do to thier own is unreal. to see a child who has had its head machetted in half and people hands on the floor because they would not pick up a weapon is sickening.

in ireland, the rules of engagement were clear...

if he is shooting at you, shoot back..

if he stops shooting and turns his back...dont shoot.

very lame and pathetic. It probably took a room full of advisors a few days to think the rules of engagement up while drinking tea and eating biscuits while the the soldier has only a split second to decide whether to shoot or not.
