That's the anti-lag. They fitted a lot of the WRC kit for homologation reasons, but disabled it. Re-enabling the anti-lag means frequent destruction of turbo. Didn't matter on the rally car because they could change it at the next service stop, but on a road car...

As much as I like the 'BANG BANG BANG CLATTER! - flames' of anti lag on a rally car, my pocket wont like the impact - nor would people behind me in Waitrose carpark - and I'm an old fart.

As far as I'm concerned, my dump valve is too loud, the K&N is too noisy and the spud gun exhaust is too resonant. I might change the dump valve for a recirculating type, put the standard airbox back (at least it will get a cold air feed rather than sucking hot air from under the bonnet as the K&N does), I've already put the baffles back in the spud gun, which has improved it, and will be putting the standard springs back on cos the Celica's stance is meaner on standard height springs.

I'll have sh1t loads of so called 'performance' bits on eBay before soon!

      LOL you old fart!!

(I thought the BOV was rubbish too, but didn't really notice the intake, but i didn't give it a lot of stick. The exhaust was nice when burbling around streets, but probably annoying at speed.)

The baffle is in the exhaust now. Much quieter at normal speeds, but when you boot it it howls! Niiiice!

Gave it a bit of stick on the way back from Shrewsbury today, and boy does it shift when the rev counter is heading for 6000rpm! Turns into a totally different animal!

Deffo a lovely car Standard airbox with a decent filter is a much better idea, like you say it's not sucking in hot air!! Not sure about the Toyota but it took the recirculating d/valve off of my Cosworth (running just under 380bhp) and when you give it some stick you do get that lovely WRC 'chirping' sound I agree with you about going back to standard springs too, after all I suspect that Toyota did spend a few million pennies getting it to be one of the best rally cars there was!!

          Cheers, Nick
