Ex-Surfer with a MK1 Surf Enquiry!

Hi All,

I am interested in a MK1 Surf for sale reasonably near me to use as a toy and utility. The particular appeal of the MK1 to me is that the top lifts off. I just spoke with the owner though and it all sounds good except that he doesn't think the top comes off - at least he says he has never tried and he says the headlining is all one piece. So now I am not so sure.

Does anyone here know if ALL MK1 Surfs have the lift off rear section to the roof or are some fixed? If it definately lifts off, I may go have a look with a view to a purchase and be 'back in the fold'!

thanks, not sure about the headlining comment then - guess the only thing to do is go take a look. I've seen lots of MK1's about, just never really paid much attention to how the lid comes off.

BTW: Has anyone got a picture of a MK1 with the back off?
Can't see for the life of me how a Surf can do that.
