  • My 2 batteries

I have two batteries in my surf.

If I have the engine off and run a beer fridge all night and flatten the battery will it staill start ?

Does the surf have some clever mechanism where only battery goes flat and the other is used to start the car, or is that an incorrect assumption made by many people left with an immobile car and cold beer.

You'll have two flat batteries - but at least with all that cold beer you won't give a damn

Take a drive to a car stereo specialist as they may well be able to get the batteries to keep your beer cold and still start the car, anything with a huge powerful stereo will have the system in it so you can run the stereo without the need to keep the engine running.
If it aint broke...........give it some more abuse!!!!!!!!
I gave it some abuse.................and it broke!!!!!!!

Buy a fridge with a cut out on it, which will turn off when batteries are below 10volts. Problem solved, cold beer and good batteries.

You could fit a third battery at the rear and wire it as a split charge system (as used on caravan systems). The third battery is wired via a voltage sensitive relay that allows the battery to be charged when the engine is running but disconnects it from the vehicle electrical system when not - result: cold beer and a Surf that starts in the morning - and a battery that will automatically recharge when you start the engine. Wow I think I will do that as well.

If your batteries get to 10volts I don't think you'll be starting your car!!!

Beer should be drunk warm ~ room temp is okay. I keep mine on top of the the boiler at home! Maybe run the engine and leave it in the engine bay?

once a fridge is cold, turn it off. it should stay cold for hours, long as the doors shut.... long enough to drink the contents anyway...

nah find a peice of pipe the same size as your can and weld it onto your exaust... mud inslates it and the exaust warms it,
