Feckin hell. All this talk about massive yank engines!!! Are you lot just not bothered about fuel economy?
Dont get me wrong changing my trusty diesel engine for a lexus V8 is the stuff of dreams for me but the mpg must be pretty awful.

No difference in fuel economy to be honest.

Ah now come on. No difference between a Lexus V8 petrol & a 3 Ltr Turbo diesel? Your starting to give me ideas.

Honest I was only getting very low 20s mpg before, now it's still the same, but I get there with much less effort, faster plus unleaded is cheaper.
Mine was a 2.4 by the way..

No difference in fuel consumption and cheaper fuel is seriously making me consider this conversion now, any idea or experience of these V8s running on LPG ?

Should run just fine on LPG, just need to add the cost of LPG kit to build fund.

I was getting the low 20's MPG with my 3.0 lump, I'm expecting my V8 to be pretty much the same, the engine from Lexus is roughly 100kg lighter than Surf lump so this should help.

Oh thats it ! Im saving my pennies now, I went from a 1.4 almera to a 2.4 surf and Ive noticed the incredible fish like drinking qualities. Its a bitter pill to swallow blinded by the love of my truck, and If Im honest I probably get between 16-25 mpg. I reckon thats modern V8 mpg territory. Its got to be worth it, maybe not for the tax and insurance but still - tasty food for thought.

Well I used to have a dream about owning a hemi engined muscle car which I accepted would be about 8-16 mpg. By this the V8 standard was set in my mind.

So what do you get out of your 18 year old one ?

It's not fitted yet but I'll report back when it is, I'm expecting pretty much the same as I get with my 3.0 Surf lump to be honest.

Fuel Consumption has never been great with the Surf, for me it was an improvement when i bought it as i was running 3.5 Range Rover. To be honest towing a caravan with the Range then buying the Surf doubled my consumption because when towing i found the consumption didnt really change with the Surf. These dreamers who quote any more than 20's, stock i was getting no more than 25-27 even on a run, now with much lift and 35/1250x18s just about 20 i reckon.

                                Just because you can't do it doesn't mean that other's can't ...

                                30mpg IS attainable - I know because I've done it !
