What mpg do we get from a 1995 3ltr diesel?

  • #2
    Not a lot

You should expect to get around 24-28 at best

                I drove from Oban-Eastbourne. I used 68 litres(14.97 gallons) derv.

I got just shy out of 30 to the gallon from the deisel. Mind you factor in the feckin unleaded I accidentally added and I got an average 23.7
                Non intercooled nothing.

My truck is standard and will be well maintained, I expected it to be around the 30mpg mark, the max speed limit in Shetland is 60mph, I usually find myself cruising arond the roads at around 55mph unless i get stuck behind a truck doing 40-45, most 4x4 drivers seem to stick to 50-55 because of the bends being agresive and of the wrong camber variety ha ha

With a bit of luck and the wind in the right direction you might just manage that. I managed to get 29.87 on a run ONCE. I drove like a saint and it did my head in. I can usualy manage somewhere around 27 on a run and anything down to 14 around town, usualy 17-20.

Pfff I think some of you are slightly exagerating those figures.
From my 2.4, running VEG and topped with a little diesel, in the summer driving for 5 or 6 hours constantly with speeds about 50 - 60 trying not to bring the turbo light on, I got 27mpg. The truck had slightly bigger tyres and an intercooler fitted and thats it. Injectors were new / recon from dieselbob. I think this is the best conditions I could of had to get the best MPG.

From my 3.0 it averages around 19 to 23mpg. I havnt been able to do a propper test, but all I know is that when I do drive it, it costs.

If you're looking at the odometer, that's Kilometers, not miles.

I neither know nor care what MPG I get, that's not why I bought a 16 year old, 2 tonne truck...
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

I'd make sure your odometer is reading miles and not Kilometers first, which is what it sounds like it is doing.

Most MPH conversions are just a replacement card behind needles, this leaves trip meter and such reading KM's
