Originally posted by mickyd View Posthi buddy, that code is glass trade specific, main stealers have a parts numbering system of their own, so any windscreen company will be able to recognize that code but not the main dealers, the code will be followed by differing letters according to which piece of glass for that vehicle you want.
e.g.
depending on colour, which i think should be available in clear or bronze tint, the code for the front screen will be
8271LCL = clear
8271LBZ = bronze
8271RFD = right front drop (door glass)
871LFD = left front drop
and so on around the car.
hope this helps

Its that dreeded word "IMPORT" that causes the problem but as you say they must have sussed it buy now, we can't be the first to have a screen cracked.If its not broke don't fix it.

i think the main tint colour for a surf is bronze, but yes if you are unsure, put a white piece of paper behind the glass to tell the colour, (i emphasize white paper because i told someone to check with paper once and they told me green tint, I turn up and the glass is bronze tint, then he shows me how he did it, with a green piece of paper )
Mr Dark, get in touch with your local windscreen company, use one of the smaller independent ones not one of the bigger companies, and tell them what you are after, if they can get one they should be able to help, windscreen companies will help out with glass, parts and trims for the budding home enthusiast, just don't call me if you are enthusiastic about classic MG's!
I think the surf should be the same as the 4runner but without looking at one I can't confirm that, maybe someone on here with a 4runner can post a pic of the windscreen and trim and compare it to the surfLast edited by mickyd; 13 January 2010, 09:11.
