Hi
Planning to join the Mongolia Charity Rally, a mere 10,000 mile drive to donate a fully equipped 4x4 ambulance as their medical facilities there are very poor.
Thinking of converting a Surf to an ambulance, most important is that it remains reliable after we get there so Hilux base seems perfect.
Budget is £1000 max, as we have to raise all the funds to buy/convert/equip/drive there/visas/and get home, as well as raise a minimum cash donation and donate the result of our work.
Not begging for cash, but wanting expert advice now, rather than in the Gobi or on a 10,000ft high plateau 500 miles from nearest village.
So
- is there 6ft plus behind back of pasenger seat?
- anyone done/seen an ambulance conversion before?
- any advice on best engine/head problems etc?
- any suggestions on vehicle to buy/avoid?
Thanks
Bruce
