  • Alloy wheel refurbishment

My friend who is on another forum has just showed me this forum post where someone refurbished their knackered wheels. Cheaply.

I didnt know this could be done as simply as this. I will probably give this a go on my 3rd gen alloys!

    Here is the link: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/show...t=wheel+refurb

Nice outcome if you ask me
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

They look really good - only thing I'd be wary of is mixing the etch primer with other sprays. I sprayed some bits with hammerite once, and then had to rub down a couple of bits and re-prime. Crinkled up like a bugger.. If you're going to do this try a little test spray of each layer to make sure you're safe.

good write up,all i'd add is it takes a long time to do properly, dont rush it,and dont wax wheels straight away if you clear them, leave a week or 2 for the clear to go off

to be honest i wouldnt bother with the etch primer, unless theres any corrosion there, etch primer as said above can be a right pain to work with or paint over.

i do wheel refurbs etc for a living , i can do a full 4 wheel refurb in a day ,
ill post some pics of wheels i did before christmas when i get 5 mins
or theres a couple on my website www.scuffsnscrapes.info

oh and i would use red scotch pads, they are too rough to paint over , go for grey scotch pads , they do the job and are less harsh on the surface to be painted.
