  • Bizzare & scary

We are at a caravan site up in the Newark area for the next week. On arrival noticed that the gravel road around the site looked wet & mushy and didn't think any more of it as I was driving a Surf in four wheel drive towing a twin axle caravan.
Only doing about 5mph or less and on a right hand bend truck and caravan decide to see what is in the bushes. Sort of panicking watching bushes and ditch getting closer and gunned the engine. Luckily the tyres bit and pulled us away.
That was a under 5mph. If going any faster probably would have had a dented caravan. I would had to hit ice if travelling at 20 - 30 mph!

Hi Surf01, Nice to hear there's no 'dented' pride, Where abouts in Newark are you? As I'm always around there on gas emergencies, so if you see a large white National Grid van flashing at ya, you know who it is

We are staying at the Smeaton lakes caravan park near Newark. A couple of us are getting together to celebrate in the New Year. Ours is a maroon & grey Surf with a South African flag sticker on the rear.

There are three of us here with Surfs. Mine maroon one and the other two are silver. One belongs to Predictable Bob a member of this forum. Forgotten the nom de plume for the other member as we had a good night last night and didn't have to drive anywhere.
