Just bought Suf 3.0 TD auto manufactured 1994 imported 2003. Insurance companies keep telling me this model is a 2.4 manual or it is a 1997 3.0 TD auto. Neither of these are correct as I have the DVLA stats to show it is manufactured 1994 3.0 Surf TD Auto. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Because insurance can't find this model I can't get an insurance quote.

insurance
I have just re-insured with Aplan.
Didn’t think I would as the renewal quote was £340 up from £250.
I did a gocompare and this came out with Chaucer as the best quote at around £215, but this listed the car as a manual rather than auto.
I phoned them and they altered the quote to £265. This included legal cover.
I phoned Aplan who put me through to chap in 4x4 insurance who re-quoted me on a special 2nd car policy for 4x4 users who use the car only for limited use.
As my surf is our 2nd car and due to its love of a drink it only comes out when I need a mental boost or snow. This policy works for me.
New cost £197
The only downsides are limited mileage 3000
Also no claims discount benefit. They say my 9 years can be claimed on another policy within 2 years so I don't lose it, so in my opinion it's worth a try for a year.
I will repost if I get any bad news when the policy details come through.
****************************** *********************
Just a thought though.
Why don't Carlsberg do insurance
I hate having to chase a better deal
I would have just paid £250 or less and saved the phone calls
Chaucer quoted good and I would have probably gone that way.
But why doesn’t your current insurer try to keep your business without a fight.
It makes me feel we are unvalued by our insurers.
Regards to all & Merry Christmas
Steve

Adrian Flux are a bunch of robbing tw*ts. They're fine as long as you don't want to change anything on your policy. If you cancel or make a change, they'll have the shirt off your back. They charged me almost 90% of the yearly cost for cancelling my policy after a month when I got rid of my previous surf.
Sureterm Direct were best for me, organised cover with GroupAMA, 9 years no claims TPFT on a 1993 3.0TD SSR-X came to £196 including cover for greenlaning (not that I'll use it).
