  • Why on earth.........

........is it so easy to spin the rear wheels on my surf?? Tyres are pirelli scorpion AT's with half descent tread on rear. Fair enough if it was on a corner, but from standing in a straight line?? Ok i did sink the foot a bit but never to the floor.

Should i keep some weight in the back?? I've got an Aux Veg tank where underslung wheel goes. Must be sitting with 40lts in. But still spins like a mo fo

All the second gens I test drove span their wheels easy on roundabouts, I find the 3rd gen better (no idea why) but can still do it pulling out of wet junctions (especially in the warmer weather when it rains after a period or dry) but if it's rally wet and I don't have the kids ( drive slower with them in the car) I just hit the 4wd button!

You'll have to fight my missus for it, it's hers technically.

It's going to have some new shoes soon, five 255/55/18 General Grabbers.
The worn-down-almost-to-the-wear-indicators, Pirelli Scorpions are crap in the wet, massive understeer if pushed too hard!

Ive have enduro H/T on mine & ive got to be honest, they are great, good in wet & dry + not too bad off road.

Excellant mileage "40,000 so far with about 1/3 of tread still to go & all for around £75 a pop.

Grassmans hit the point. Its all to do with the LSD (limited slip diff) at anything more than a crawl an LSD will restrict the amount of slip in the diff. one wheel going faster than the other (as you need to do going round a corner) will result in one wheel been dragged slightly and lose some traction.

I've had some great opposite lock moments in my surf!!

I had some in mine. Not sure 'great' was the word though..... Turned out the shocks were busted and was fine once I changed them.

If the original jap tyres are on, they get sod all grip as they appear to be made out of hard plastic.
