Some self-deprecating humour wouldn't go amiss.
I've done gazillions of stupid things but the one I laugh most about is this one.
Recently my employer introduced electronic payslips but before that you received, via internal mail, the monthly payslips for your team and you then handed them out. A few years ago I was expecting to take a fairly hefty tax hit in one particular month and when the payslips for my team arrived I was desperate to find out exactly what sort of pittance I was expected to live off for the next 30 days. I ripped open the payslip, looked at the bottom line and let out a loud exclamation along the lines of 'how the fcuk am I supposed to live off this?'. Needless to say I'd opened the wrong payslip and the person whose payslip I had opened was sitting about three feet away. I could have crept under a stone as I handed the opened payslip to him saying 'I think this is yours'.
