  • Recovering lost data

Does anyone know what it costs in the UK to recover lost data, My hard drive crashed, it happened to be the computer with all me pics and vids on (nothing arrestable )
I have been quoted stupid money, per megabyte here.
I don't know what happened to the drive, I wasn't home, the wife called and said the comp is just flashing with a blank screen.
I got someone to lob a new hard drive in, but it's the old data That i would like to get back.
I have most backed up, not all though.

        Couple questions:

Is is a sata or ide drive?

If you connect it to power does it spin?

Can the bios detect the drive?

Thre are a few basic componets to a drive, platter/s (where the data lives) read/write heads (the part that accesses the data) spin motor (no explanation needed) and the control board once you know wich part/s have failed then you move onto the next step.

        peace

            Thanks Cal,
I don't know... to be honest.
The guy has taken it back to try and get it replaced free of charge.
I'll get it back in my hands and revive the thread.
