right.....here's my dilema.........how the feck am i going to get a surf with no head and a lexus over to you in Wales!!??

its going to cost a small fortune just to transport everything!

i could.....

A: get Rich to take my surf down to you. then i could buy a towbar and tow the lexus down to you allowing me to drive home again?

B: you can give me a list of all the bits you need from the Lexus and ill get it all removed at my end and then just chuck it all in the back of my surf and let Rich take it all down to you?

C: get Rich to take the surf down and then i could get the Lexus taxed & MOT'd so i can drive it down to you myself and then i could get the train back to london?

cant think of anything else? not sure how a surf train would work with this kinda thing?
if anyone has any bright ideas, im all ears.

C is very expensive though. MOT £50 (thats if im lucky) and god knows how much to tax it!? lol

with A, id have to buy one of those rigid tow pole thingys as there wont be anyone in the lexus.

this is just going to cost stupid money just to get it there!

Just drive the Lexus, Do it at the beginning of December and if you get pulled, tell them you have just bought it. and tow the surf on an 'A' frame behind the Lexus.
You are lobbing over 2 grand on the surf, so another couple of hundred isn't going to hurt.

ok here is my idea i have flux rescue breakdown cover and providing im more that 1 mile from my home address they will take me where ever i need to go!! so i would take out some cover and get calling!!

hahah mate you have no idea how many times i have done this! lol i have to all singing and dancing cover from the RAC. they will drive me to wherever i was going to if i break down. even wales! lol
the problem in this case is that they wont tow anything that isnt taxed! and they wouldnt send a flatbed to pic up a saloon car
i tried when i bought my other surf. waited ages for them to turn up, convinced him that the reason half the engine was out was because i stripped it while i was waiting (lol) but it had no tax so they wouldnt tow it.
they arent stupid.
so in order to do that i would have to MOT it just to get the tax so they can tow it! and if im going to MOT it i might aswell drive it myself as opposed to sitting in some random RAC guys van for 3 hours all the way to Wales! lol

Get Rich to take the Lexus down,

Give Vince say a week to strip it down and dispose of the old carcase, then get Rich to take the Surf down.

goodcat,join greenflag(u can join broken down)bout 70/80 a year,all of their work goes to local agents,who only get paid if they tow the car,they will tow it,obviously dont complsin to me if they dont,but ive moved all sorts with greenflag cover before,if your anyway concerned,ring up explain you have broken down,can it be towed tommorow to your mechanic,and in the mean time your taking the head off to be repaired

I think you just need to accept that its going to cost alot of money however you do it.

It's not something easily avoided.

I'd also have a word with Vince an see what works best for him if he's interested in doing the conversion!

I have to say, from looking at the results of his own truck an the effort he's putting into Hirolers truck i'd gladly pay vince to work on any car/truck i'll ever own!!

That includes my Rolls Royce Phantom i'm getting next year!

cheers for the idea mate but what do you think they will say when i ask if they can tow it to "my mechanic" in WALES when i live in surrey! lol
i owuldnt be able to stop laughing down the phone if i had to ask that! lol

the RAC will still tow me even with the head out but only to the nearest garage to get it fixed. not 200 miles to wales! lol


i just had an idea!!!!!!!

when i say the head is out.....well its not totally out. my mate only started taking a few bits out. i think he only got as far as the airbox and a few pipes ect.
the surf still drives and she isnt losing water. im thinking what if i just put the few bits back on and then drive it myself!?
will it last all the way to wales is the question? but even if it doesnt atleast i will have a genuine excuse for a tow the rest of the way!
dont know why i didnt think of that before! lol ooops.
OR would this be ok? i could drive it and if it breaks down on the motorway i can just use that bottle of K-SEAL i bought for it.
it wouldnt matter if it clogged everything up would it as ill be changing the engine anyway!?
