End result, motor is knacked, once i refitted it, the window went down and up a couple o times then died again, so took it all apart again, stripped the rear passenger door, swapped motors about and now its working like a at out o hell. Happy Days.

I would. If I remember correctly, the gear unit is fairly well sealed from the rotor unit, so you shouldn't have any problems due to it creeping. Pack a decent amount in there, (not jamming it solid though), and you should be fine. Connect it one last time to the battery and check it's functioning properly before you put it back into the rear door mechnism.

Matt, my dear man, yet again, you are correct, well so far anyway. Took motor out, stuck it on work bench, wired up to battery and nothing. tried moving the teeth with a screw driver, and nothing. Teeth all looked rusty, so wd40 them, leave a wee bit still nowt. So took the wee back casing off, and hey presto, full o cr*p and rust, wd40 that, clean it out wi a screw driver, and used an adjustable to turn a wee bolt like thingy then stuff started moving again, dne that for a good wee while, cleanded it out and yet again, hey presto when i connected the battery again all started moving. So now the question, do i pack all the insides full o copper grease??????

Also, do make sure that you are not actually touching the bared parts of the wire when you touch the wires to the battery. Just thought I'd better mentioning, knowing what you're like.

No way am Going to Albanachs, al just get a ripping, then laughed at, then laughed at more and told to go see Yoshie Then i would go to Yoshies, he would laugh, fix it and id be none the wiser.

You will get sparks if you just touch the wires straight to the connections.

Get two wires, one red, one black, and put a female spade connector on one end of each wire. Bare approx. an inch or so of wire on the other end of each wire. Pop an inlise fuse on the red wire, for the sake of caution. Fit the ends with the spade connectors on to the motor. They are spade terminals on there.

Testing is now merely a case of touching the bare ends to a batteries terminals. The motor sill spin one way. Then, touch the bared ends to the terminals in the opposite order. The motor will spin the other way. You will get some sparking when you initially touch the wires to the battery terminals. Unless you're planning on fitting battery clamps and a switch to the bared ends of the cable, that you'll just have to live with.


Edit: You might be better off nipping round to Albannach's or Yoshie's and getting them to help you.

Right got that bit, now the hard part for me, 1 pos wire and one neg wire coming from the battery, were the hell do i touch them on the motor cos i got sparks when i tried it earlier.

Remove the motor, as shown here:

then once the motor is out you can manually move the mechanism up/down. With the motor out, everything moves freely.

Hmm working it manually, do tell. All i got was sparks when i done it the battery way, me thinks im doing it wrong

Cheers Matt, once i get the window down it will be a lot easier to check things.

Just post if you get stuck with anything. You could also just whip the motor out and operate the mechanism manually, to get the back door open. It will be easier to test the motor that way as well.

Suppose al need to think about paying subs again eh. Mind u am only doing it if i get a new sticker sent out for my new truck

The stickers are an additional extra. I think it's an extra fiver or so for a brand spanking new set of those. It should be mentioned in the subs sticky somewhere, I believe.
