Your'e not alone Steve, this same shopping mail is extremely common at the moment.
I have at least 5 people in my hotmail contacts who have sent me this crap without knowing. Hotmail know about it and i believe there is some "what to do" info on thier website!

Hi mate, i use Mcafee, its not free, but for 80 Dollers a year, you cannot beat it, never had a problem, it updates every time you go online, and you can protect upto 3 computers, to try it, go to www.mcafee.com they have a 30 day free trial, for total internet security, i personally would not change, thats not to say the free ones are no good, but i prefer to know its working every time i switch on.www.furryfriendsinneed.com

Just in case you're wondering; that Trojan almost certainly has nothing to do with the hacked Hotmail account, it's coincidental that it's there.
Free Anti-Virus will never be as good as paid for ones. I also use McAfee, which I get via my Employer's License. If AVG and the likes were the best (and most up-to-date) available, do you think Blue Chip companies would be spending Millions of pounds a year on Licensed programs?
Unfortunately, one only finds out one's Anti-Virus is not as good as one thinks it is, when one's PC has succumbed to attack!Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

I have had Mcafee on the laptop (it came with 90 days free) just installed another which I had never heard of but latest addition and hey presto. Picked up all sorts - 3 Trojans included. McAfee saw nothin. Not that I am slating McAfee mind but had AntiVar (I think) on the desktop which picked up what McAfee didnt and that was a free download.
Our card was cloned in August from Paddock spares pay site - fraud section of credit card company picked up on the card number being tried on various sites an phoned us. They cancelled an sent a new one out. We now have one with full internet protection. It's worth getting the best protection you can if you internet shop in my opinion. How can I be lost when I've got no where to go

I know you're not supposed to, but I run
AVG and Avast together, and not had any
probs, but I think Avast is a bit better than
AVG, 'cause it seems to "react" faster than
AVG, it makes a right row when it detects anything.
Gman.
EDIT: Avast updates it's self 2 or 3 times a night
sometimes, so it can't be that far behind can it?Last edited by GRASSMAN; 11 November 2009, 21:33.If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

I have no idea where the free Anti Virus programs get their solutions from. They certainly can't be paying programmers to search for, decipher and create solutions to the latest Viruses...Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

If you look at Mcafees site, they have several differant levels of internet security, i use the total internet security option, this blocks all popups and will not allow access to dodgy sites where you can pick up trojans etc, it also gives you email and file protection, and a damn good firewall, the free 90 days you got were the basic ones only. the 30 day free trial from Mcafee is entry level one, you then update and expand to suit the level of internet use you do. Saying this, the best internet protection you can get is a seperate ispn on a dongle, this hides your computers true ispn, but at present is horrendously expensive, and not readily available.www.furryfriendsinneed.com
