Escort diesel

I know , not Surf related . Just need to know if a Escort diesel engine will fit onto a transit diesel MT75 gearbox. I know most Fords used the same gearbox type of MT75 but need to know if the gearbox casting is the same through out the range . I want a Sierra diesel engine but have got an Escort one .Looks the same. Also got a Transit gearbox not a Sierra one.

Dont think so, the escorts, mondeo, focus had the mtx75 gearbox, I think the mt75 was used on scorpio, sierra and 4x4 cosworth.

Yes it will fit as the bellhousing bolt patten is 99% the same ( 1 bolt unused) the only diffrence is the mtx is front wheel drive and the mt is rear wheel drive only problem might be the starter motor my need moding

Yes , I found out today that the starter wont fit in same place or at all . I need to find a Sierra 1.8 diesel engine and gearbox , but not seen one for sale anywhere local .
