  • what is YOUR hilux's 0-60mph?

    heya,

trying to develop a loose database.... a lot of talk about 2.4L surf's being sluggish, (and i know the few i've driven have been) but it would be cool to know from real motorists how their vehicles perform.

    Use this as a guide...

    Year of Surf:
    Engine size / type:
    Fuel:
    Tire size:
    Transmission:

I think this will be interesting information for all. I know that when you buy a surf you aren't looking for a speed demon, but its just nice to know the average performance of a surf for your own knowledge.

Go test ya beast out and report back!
    cheers surfers.

You'll receive more variation in answers than you can shake a stick at. They get there when they get there, speed wise.

          variation is fine....
i guess the point of this is to just to have an idea where YOUR car falls in the spectrum.

But that all depends on how heavy you use your right foot

If I had a shave then jumped into the truck and gunned it, by the time I got it to 60mph I'd need another shave.

                  Right then.
                  Did 0-100 kmh twice.
                  First run... 9.43 seconds.
                  Second run... 9.31 seconds

                  it's a 3.0 litre and it's intercooled

Mind you my old 2.4 on 33's... 0 to 60 was about 4 days.
                  Non intercooled nothing.

I presume it was fitted by a previous owner andy. To be honest it doesn't seem to make much difference.

if i hammer the gearbox barely clutching it will do sub 9 secs to 62. but thats because i have a 210hp 3.0 tuned by gwyn lewis with all the trick. although allisport reckon if it was intercooled it would be around 230-250bhp at the engine.
Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

                              Year of Surf: 1994
                              Engine size / type: 3:0 V6
                              Fuel: Petrol
                              Tire size: 31”
                              Transmission: Auto
Timed my Surf’s 0-60 three years ago when I first bought it and it was a little over 9 seconds.
What I do know is that it would leave any 2nd Gen diesel Surf standing at the lights... and a lot of modern Mitsubishi L200 Warriors ect.
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL
