To be honest with you lads, in my opinion if you live in the country & keep chickens you got to expect the local wildlife to interact with them at some point.

Phantom theres probably been foxes roaming around where you live a long time before you got there & they'll be there when you're gone.
I know this sounds childish but they were there first!

Foxes do carry various paracites & diseases, as do humans.

Not a chance mate, could never ever be a veggy! If theres no meat on the plate it aint a proper dinner.

That's actually incorrect. Just because you have free ranging chickens does not mean that you have to let them wander around in vast swathes of unprotected land. You could quite easily class that enclosure as being a free range setup. Battery hens are subjected to extreme conditions which in no way or form resemble your setup. Neither is the welfare of battery hens a primary consideration. You are trying to make those situations fit your argument. They don't.

                  Wasn't that the Viet cong?

Charlie's dead remember? He trapped him then killed the poor wee thing. All because Charlie wanted to have one of his succulent corn fed chickens for dinner...

Note to self: Don't eat any of Mr Phantoms chickens, too dangerous.

Your such a bunch of townie's.
Charlie has had plenty of my chickens and I am willing to sacrifice a few but when he kills 35 out of the 40 you have and does'nt take one to eat he's taking the pi$$ and I'm not having it.

Maybe they weren't as tasty as he was used to?

They'd kill a turkey as quick as they would a chicken.

What about keeping ostriches, would take 2 or 3 foxes to take out one of them.

I had a goose taken once a gander a real nasty one. When I went to the shed in the morning you would have sworn about 5 people had been killed in there. We found the headless corpse about 2 mile down the road. It must have put up a hell of a fight. The fox will grab it around the neck and flick it across its back to carry it off. Somones Christmas dinner gone.
