Hey,
As previously mentioned in various other threads my dad has a Nissan terrano II
(Before you lot start I did warn him, but did he listen - no)
So, the M.O.T due soon and the brakes were getting a bit spongy and the handbrake hardly working at all, set about changing the brakes. Changed the front pads (back to bare metal - oops). After that set about replacing the passenger side parking brake cable. Again all went fine and dandy with no problems to report.
BUT, the past couple of short trips the rear drivers side brake drum has been so hot so can barely touch it, i know they are meant hold a certain temperature but comparing it to the other side, there's clearly something wrong?
Just thought I’d ask on hear, i don't know much about cars or mechanics, but my thoughts are either
A. the drum could possibly be defective? Highly unlikely, but possible
B. drum has possibly reached its minimum thickness
C. The parking brake on the driver’s side was not replaced, making me think that it could be ever so slightly stuck on causing friction in turn making the drum a lot hotter than usual.
So if any one has any input on the matter, please do speak as I’m desperate for help, as my dads going to Scotland next week, and doesn’t want the drum catching fire or anything lol
So any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks for your time
Regards
James
