    Don't panic I know its easy for me to say, but with the help of these guys on here you will get there. Dont know much about transmisions but it does sound like fluid level is the issue seeing as you drained and refilled.

      fluid levels now the least of my worries, went to start truck and now it sounds horrible, when i turn key i get a partial turn of the engine, then just metal grinding.....

        Do you mean a rapid clicking sound when you turn the key?

        Charge your battery/ies or make sure the terminals are tight.

                  no..... i attempts 1 revolution, then grrrrrrrrrrrrrr metal noise..... batteries are full... no other electrics on...

                    Could it be that the starter is not engaging correctly ? or the flywheel is worn ?

                      thats what me thinks, because starter does start to turn engine only for a short bit.... but why would it stop working all of a sudden it was all fine last nite!!!

                        Thats how it goes I'm afraid my starter died with no warning at all. Its not to bad a job to take off as mine was off three times.What do you think Vince ?

                          its now completely broke... does turn engine anymore just GRINDS..... is there much involved in dismantling my truck to see whats Kaputski or do i just get it towed to my mechanic???

                                Just a thought, but you have replaced the engine oil?

                                Just thinking of the easy things to check before you panic.
