I currently have a Nokia E75 on an 02 plan at £30pcm. Great phone with a full qwerty keyboard that slides out from underneath.(perfect for my fat fingers) Came with massive memory card in it and my internet is inc in the deal!

Mobile internet is now very good, differant country i know, but i pay 30€ a month for up to 5gig, never got near it yet, and its quick as well, just make sure you find out who has the best network coverage, because we do not have broadband, live to rural, i do all my business and everything else through mobile internet,
on the phone front, i have a Samsung SGH-J800, all round mobile player, good for music and internet.

Vodafone offer mobile broadband speeds of up to 7.20mbp/s but as with fixed line, this all depends on a number of factors - compression and contention ratios are fairly common to each, but distance is not a factor with mobile, just 3G coverage and cell station availablilty. All comes down to what you're looking for, where you are, what time of day and in some cases, the hardware and OS combinations you're using...
