  • Fault Code Readers

Anyone know if the fault code readers on eblag will fit a '94 KZN130 Surf? Is the diagnostics socket on the Surf unique or does it conform to any standard? I don't want to waste any more money trying to sort electrical problems.....

    Thanks

You have the existing fault indicator. Why the need for an external reader?

I was rather hoping that an external reader would tell me what was actually at fault quickly & simply

Nope. It can only supply the same info as the onboard unit.

Most of the readers you can buy are OBDII which stands for something like on board diagnostics 2 (as in the roman II) but the surf (2nd gen) only has ODBI which is very simple and basic, all the reader will do is the same thing as the paper clip does.
And all they ever do tell you some very basic info so they are not worth buying for odbI cars.

Now if you have money to burn and have a newer car (like my 03 forester) then you can buy loads of very cool OBDII kits.
