Ay but mine did it without the stat in......mine has had the engine out before judging by all the lables on the wires etc. on 237k km but love the truck.

I cannot justify spending all that money when it ay confirmed.

No oil in water
No water in oil
No gases in water
No loss of water
No overheating (?)
Water being pumped round system

Just seems to over pressurise every few weeks...

You tell me - just going to see what happens.

have you tried it with the stat out for a while?
it may be as BDT says, a sticky stat.

I know - but what I can't get my head around is why its fine for weeks? Surely if it's gone it's gone.

Yeah . Had the same sort of symtoms before mine finally
gave up the ghost all ended in a big cloud of white smoke.

That was a few years back,had it all sorted and never been a
problem since, that was via CCS in Guildford was around the
£1500 all in inc new rad etc .

Depends on how much you like your truck spose ?With the
prices so low at the mo may be worth to break yours and
pick up a 3lt ?

Noooooo love it too much - rather get a new head/engine, going to search an see what alternatives are available too.

Just out of curiosity how long did your symptoms last before giving up?

If its any help when mine played up it was only when I had driven it hard, I gathered the reason behind this was that when the engine got really hot the crack on the water way opened causing visable problems, normal driving there were no issues.

I bought the pre assembled head off Roughtrax for my 2.4, no probs 2 1/2 years on and running like a dream, just servicing every 2000 miles as I get oil for nowt
