  • Just made my first BIO

    Hi Guy's
Just made my first batch of BIO and was draining off the crap and had three layers.
Firstly a dark brown layer that looked like good oil but when cold tuned into jelly (Glycerall) then a jet black layer followed by a clear almost watery layer which I hope is good BIO.

My query is from any of you experienced BIOers, any idea what the jet black layer was and is it normal. None of my readings on the subject mentions it.

      Black Crap

Maybe... Perhaps it was BBQ toast.
I will see what the next batch brings tomorrow.
You finished your twin tank system yet???

Do you know exactly what your oil has been used for?
The only time i've ever seen black in mine was when i used a bucket that still had a drop of diesel in it!

          Black Stuff

Funny you should say that, when I first started with veggie I mixed some old sump oil in with it (being the frugal/tight person I am).
But I gave up on that idea a long time ago too messy and to be honest it is almost impossible to get rid of... so you may be right.

The oil I am currently using comes from a pub which was really runny during the winter but is now starting to get fatty, probably selling more burgers.
I also get it from an Italian (this is quite runny) and a chinese (which seems to have dissolved ducks in it)
