We used to write "Fault cleared while localising" on our job dockets when that happened. What it realy meant was "I dont know what the fcuk I've done but its working" You couldn't put that on a fault docket that a gaffer might pick up could you?
It was bl00dy annoying because when the fault re-occured you had to start from scratch again. Notice I said when not if.

You started your Jeep and your Surf didn't vibrate? That's what I'd expect? Go start your Surf now, see what happens.

That's a myth perpetrated by Jeep owners. Jeep stemmed from the initials of General Purpose (GP), in the same way that Esso derived from the initials of Standard Oil (SO)

and Toyta came from (apparently) Mr Toyoda wanting a more western sounding name!!

i think it was for tax purposes though.

Toyota has a 'luckier' number of 8 brush strokes in Japanese caligraphy than Toyoda so when lauching the new company they went with that.

It's nothing to do with it sounding easier for us slanty eyed Westerners or anything else.

How's that for a sad bit of trivia?

I believe there is a grain of truth in the reason behind the Mitsubishi 'Starion' name too...
