  • Procomp ES2000 HD Steering Stabiliser

Recieved the afore mentioned item in the post and it has all these feckin brackets with it. Instructions are crap and the photos is illegible as it is a photocopy. Has anyone installed one of these and can they take a proper photo please. Do i need to remove the stock one or can i leave it in. Dont think they will interfere with each other!
    Cheers

Normally they are a replacement for the stock one. sometimes they clamp to the tie rod with a bracket and U bolts instead of using the orginal fitting.

Unless you got twin shocks, but they are only for 35" and bigger tyres.

    Got any pics?

Should look like this. You probably don't need to take the old one off but why not? The important thing when fitting is to put the steering on full right lock, fully extend the damper the close it up about 6mm before clamping the damper to the steering rod. This ensures you don't run out of damper travel.

Nah, just wanted you to post a pic so I could work out what went where, but Rogers pics tell all. Sorted!

I wonder if procomp is an American product. I have bought a couple of really expensive, well engineered items of American radio equipment and found the instructions comprehensive but illegible. One was an aerial that cost $550 and the other a radio that cost $1300. It looks like they are still using the old roller duplicators and sit up and beg typewriters
            It's only a hobby!

You could be right. Well, they still use feet and inches, don't they!

Nothing is ever straightforward, is it? I thought, right i just unbolt the cross member and put the new bolts in, like in the instructions. After nearly giving myself a hernia trying to get the bots out, one came out smoothly. The other wasnt having any of it . So after a bit of a tap with a lump hammer and sveral methods of persuasion, it same out. but the holes were misaligned and the new bolts which are bigger than the originals wouldnt go in. No amount of jacking up this side and that side would move the holes in line. Was just about to give up when i thought of my trusty 'Hi-lift'. I grabbed that sucker and and took the base plate off and moved some other bits around and jacked that bugger apart. Bolts then slid in. and i got the bracket on. By now i could barely see what i was doing as it was 10pm, so i didnt get it finished. I knew that jack would come in handy some day.

When I did mine the big problem was getting the old damper out. The taper joint on the passenger side was well & truly stuck and I had lent my decent splitter to a mate. As usual with these things I was just about to give up after about an hour of swearing at it when the b****r fell on the floor.

I would say you would have problems fitting it if you've got the underslung air-con rad (like mine used to) but other than that I can't see why auto should make a difference. Mine is auto and the damper fits fine.

Just received an ES2000 unit in the post - I think I might have made a mistake... does the HD bit mean there are extra brackets... I just have the shock and some bushes and nuts - nothing else! Can the brakets be bought anywhere else?
