fuel filters

could be i dont know reall y the only thing is it does run a bit rough on startup but i assumed that maybe a couple of heater plugs are down but it sailed through mot last week so i thought that the fuelling cant be too far out

Fuelling at idle is a hell of a lot different to fuelling at 3000rpm up a hill with a tonne of caravan behind you.

Yeah, OEM stuff... If you assess it intelligently, there are some critical bits I would want OEM every time, but there's also a fair bit of stuff where pattern parts are just fine.

Having said that, I just got a set of of Mintex disks and pads for Vicki's Polo for £39!!!! That is impressive!

Hi guys,

Don't know if this is connected, but, at a dead 40mph, due to
the speed limit on the local dual carriage ways, my truck
seem to missfire/hunt/hold back, not sure if it's the engine
or the transmission, knocking the OD off seems to help, could
this be down to the fuel filter? no probs at motorway speeds,
any other ideas please.

I doubt its down to the fuel filter. It's as likely to be down to the tooth fairy IMO.

It's probably on the edge of a gear shift, and being a 'soft changing' autobox feels a bit lacklustre at that point.

As I can lock the torque converter at any speed, I usually do when on long 40 - 60mph slogs on A roads and just change the top gears using the OD switch. OD off, TC locked pulls strong from about 35 to 45, and then OD on from 45 up. No soft gear changes, and the torque seems to fit pretty well with those speeds. IMO, the autobox changes up too late when the truck's not loaded / towing.

what have you done to allow lock up at any speed and can I do it to my 3rd Gen ?
