Perhaps you have a knackered UJ on a shaft?

On the other hand, ATF gets REALLY hot. Hotter than the engine coolant. Its probably normal.

When driving in sandals, mine used to burn my left ankle.

With ATF cooler its better but its still hot.

Mine used to get f'kin hot!!

If i rested my left foot against the transmission tunnel it was seriously uncomfortable! even with a body lift..

Still ran perfect when i sold it! So dont worry about it. But check the fluid!

Neither of mine get uncomfortably hot. Lexurf has a 2" bodylift and I replaced the rubber transmission cooling hoses with larger diameter ones, maybe that helps.
The 'Navigator' is standard and pulling the caravan it didn't get so hot that I couldn't rest my left foot/leg against the tranny tunnel.
