You guys are crazy, down in OZ we have them on our Ford Falcons as well, it is what it is, a piece of Rubber mounted to the cross memeber.
For the all inportant task of harmonics it simply just absorbs some vibrations.
Have seen these on the end of steering wheels as well to stop vibrations as factory fitted.
Its the old senario we designed it, we built it, it did not work properly so we stuck a lump of rubber on it and that shut the !!!!!! thing up
