My L Reg 3.0 TD SSRX seems to have blown a head gasket:
- recent possible overheating (cracked & empty rad)
- bubbling radiator when cap is off
- white clouds of exhaust on some starts
So I probably need a new head gasket - or even a new head - plus at some point soon a new radiator. (The epoxy repair won't last forever!)
(I also need 4 x new tyres)
Sooooo .... what should I budget for the new head gasket plus labour?
And the new rad whilst there?
I suppose that it might in fact be time to scrap the car ....
Any advice?
PS Any chance that a mechanical newbie could successfully change the head and/or gasket and radiator himself? Or is it a task from Hell?
