    That's a real shame.

I did offer to take over the running of the site when I bought his truck as I thought it might dissapear once he'd lost interest.

The offer still stands if anyone gets hold of him.

    Cheers

It may just be a temporary lapse or glitch, but until we get hold of him we'll ne'er know.

        Hi there,

        Very long time no see...

I just happened to be googling the other day and found a post by trev talking about my site etc.

I haven't been ignoring anyone it's just I stopped all email from the site due to spam and that also inadvertently included notifications from here

The reason the site went offline is for a few reasons. As someone above said I gave up my Surf ages ago and when the domain came up for renewal I just decided to "park it" to avoid the hassle/cost. Mainly due to the fact I was getting more and more spam via the website and site emails along with loads of people who plainly thought I was there to answer general questions which would be better asked on forums. I just got fed up and when I found out some weasel had just downloaded the entire site onto CD and was selling it on ebay that just depressed me slightly. I mean it was just a hobby for me and I never tried to or intended to make any money, I just made information available. To have someone just take all that and try and profit really made me mad...

Anyway, I think I still have the engine manuals (and in fact the entire site) somewhere, I can check. If someone can arrange somewhere for me to upload some files them I can let you have some stuff (i.e. some sort of shared upload site or scp/ftp access to a server somewhere or something like that?).

        Regards
        Simon

Simon, am I glad to see you online. Been trying to get hold of you for a good while now to see if it would be possible, (and to get your permission to do so also), to get hold of a copy of your site and host it. Your site going offline has been like having a lost limb.

I'll dig out the upload account details. It would be okay with you if I hosted the complete version of your site, including the write-ups you did and such?

Thanks ever so much for popping in Simon. You're like the Scarlet Pimpernel to get hold of.

The KZN engine manual is now hosted as a torrent on Matt's site and I have the PDF in my webspace should it be needed.

Codlord has uploaded the showmesome.info tech site, (pictures and all), so I'll be putting it online on the tech site either tonight or tomorrow. We'll have the showmesome site back online shortly.

Thankyou ever so much once again Simon.

Miss your site as had really good info, sorry to hear you were stolen and sold like that.

Will be good that MattF can repost the info on his site and really good that you are willing to share still.

Right ladies. It's online, so if you want to check it out, (I do still have little bits to tweak, but all of the main parts should be working fine), it's here:

The original layout is pretty much unchanged except for the simple addition of placing the FAQ link in plainly visible sight on the index and changelog pages.

                              Matt,

One change I suggest is to add on a few or maybe even lots of pages a note saying something like "This info is freely available online at <insert link here> and is not to sold. If you have paid for this information demand a refund".

O.k. so someone can still download it, remove those lines and offer it for sale on ebay but at least the <insert derogatory term here> will have some editing to do and at least if the site says it if people do buy a CD of the site and then see the site online they will know they have paid for something that is available for free. When it was first sold on a CD people who bought it assumed it was me selling it so nobody told me!

Will do. Where would you think best, placement wise? In a bordered box, (similar to the one I've put the FAQ link in, to draw the eye), just above the footer graphics?

I'm going to be running a script on the files to change the paths, (to save the server doing redirects to the new paths), so it should be simple enough to get it to add that to the files at the same time.

Are the minor changes I've made okay, btw?
