ENGINE COMPANY Anyone used them ?

Hi,Just wondering if anyone has used the engine co ltd,as i was planning on booking the truck in for a new cylinder head gasket,i was told it would be in and out in a day .

Bought my replacement head and gasket set from them 1 1/2 years ago. Stevo from the engine co (a member here) was really helpful with any questions I had whilst replacing the head.

Looking at you choice of smilies, I'm confused. Are you saying that they're too quick, too slow, can't fit you in for at least a week or two or that you've started the job yourself and wished you hadn't????

I was going to sell the truck,But now face a repair bill of around £600 so ill be keeping it for the now.
I wouldnt even go there regarding fixing the thing myself, im just a daft joiner,i suppose its just a bit of a crazy time at present .

Is it definitely the gasket? who diagnosed it?
I thought you cured the oil leak.
I'm a joiner/carpenter/cabinet maker too by the way.

Hi mate, It was a garage called sunnieside motors up here in county durham that first pointed it out,a mate of mine tightened the bolts on the rocker cover that seemed to cure the problem, last week it started again so i tried another garage not being paranoid or anything and they suspected the same.
I did check the back of the rocker cover for any leaks but it was dry.

Hi guys,

I may be loosing the plot a bit here, but how does nipping
the cam cover, and nearly, curing an oil leak, become
a head gasket change? Why not change the cam cover
gasket, (then steam clean the engine) and see what happens?
Has a block test been done to be certain it's the head gasket?
Or have I missed another post?

I'm with Grassman here. How the hell does a shagged rocker cover gasket have anything to do with the head gasket or head? If you have an oil leak and tweaking the cover bolts minimised it, replace the rocker cover gasket.

Guys, i dont know jack s..t about these things , im just going of what people have been telling me,maybe im not explaining things that well , but at the end of the day the truck still has an oil leak............

Is there anyone on here that could pop over to him and help diagnose - at least it will be a non profit-making pair of hands going over it, may save him some money and hassle it sounds like he doesn't need....

If an oil leak from the cover is the only symptom, you dont need a head gasket - and perhaps you should avoid said garage if they say you need a head gasket at £600!!
