  • Your towbar and the MOT

    Just so you're all aware,
From next week (I believe its 26/04/09) towbars and their associated fixing points will be testable items,
Not the electrics, but the bar itself and chassis mounting points, removable hitch operation, quick release mechanisms etc....so be warned
What have I told you about thinking Erroll

So how is it tested, by towing something up the road to see it it breaks off?

Cheers for the heads up anyway.

My tester has always checked the rear towbar! When I fitted the front push bar he comented that as it was now there it had to be tested as part of the MOT!
                  Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

And in the very near future electrics are going to be part of the test also, we just took delivery of the "special" approved tow bar electrical test kit....haven't opened it yet, but definitely got it...

Probably a solid question but now that I've got the bar on (it took a bit or persuasion to line up!) I need to sort the electrics so - are people just running it up under the tail gate and then under the trim/carpet to the light cluster or going in by some other route?

                      Thanks in advance,

                      T.
