  • Advice needed...

    Hi Guys...

I need some advice on buying a surf... i've read a lot of posts and i've come to the conclusion that I'm after a manual 3.0 TD...

SO the million dollar question is... how much should i expect to pay for a good Surf ie no body rust (very important)... between 1994 and 2000 model... and which one will be easier to mod... I'm looking to do a 3" suspension and a 1.5 to a 2" body lift...

    Cheers

    Why a manual?

You need to decide if you want a 2nd Gen ~£1k or a turd Gen ~£3k
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

Unless it's for towing buy an Auto, better on and off road
2nd gen is cheaper to lift

well i grew up driving manual 4x4's and here is the beasty i still have but not here... :-( she is 10000 miles away... and well i just enjoy the skill required to drive a manual rather that a automatic that make its a lot easier when offroading...

and yes ... i know I'll get for that... but i'll stand by my case

i'll be towing well i have about 2k to spend on a good smurf

            Cos they're lazy feckers.

Seriously, the only down side of a manual is if you use the clutch underwater, it often gets full of silt and wears quickly.

Toy auto's still have lots of engine braking, but never as much or controllable as a manual.

Auto's just let you get on with steering and enjoying the scenery.

Biggest advantage of a Auto is the crappy Surf handbrake, you can forget about it till MOT time and leave the truck in P.
