So that fan in front of my rad is for the aircon? Apart from stat change, burping, rad flush is there anything else i can check to make sure all is functioning properly?

My stat was on the bottom pipe of the rad, behind the alternator. ####### to get to... http://www.showmesome.info/hilux/wor...thermostat.htm, however, shows it in a different place with a different rad. Why?

Looking at that link thats a 2.4 engine mate, the 3's are quite different, perhaps someone can confirn that the temp sensor is the same on both 3 & 2.4's? if so you should be able to mod the fan assumeing this fan is for back up and the air con, i aint to well up on 3lts but is this front fan the only one there is? find it odd as the old air con on 2.4 have two fans which were located under the rad on a rad of their own (air con rad) plus the one in front,
dont see why you cant fit two fans in front (space allowing!) if my wireing diag is any help (this was done with a lot of help from MattF btw) let me know,

I can't find a Thermo Fan Switch for the 3 Ltrs listed in the EPC. I also don't know why it's so expensive for the 2.4 one. It just a simple switch and normally closed. IIRC it's temperature range is 92 off and 98 on.

Perhaps the 3 Ltr does not have one but something must switch the fan on. I also think the 2.4 one serves a dual purpose and will switch on if engine gets very hot even if the air con is not on.

As said before by Apache and Mattf the electric fan is just for the aircon.
