2nd or blade2 http://www.dafont.com/blade-2.font?p...xt=DarkDezigns, no1 won't be easy to read on anything other than a plain contrasting background, not enough straight edges to attract the eye and give definition.

as a quick example, though i know the background isn't exactly realistic in terms of what you'll be putting it on but still

Better left as is, in my opinion. He is, in truth, doing the correct thing by publishing his info. That's the whole point of the WHOIS info, to provide relevant and specific information on the registrant. Obfuscating or providing stripped down info is an annoyance, in my opinion, and defeats the purpose and intent of the system.

Nah, I like to be secretive, especially when it's personal stuff. I suppose it may be different for a business.

If Tesco want to re-brand to Dark Dezignz, they'll want your domain. If you hide your contact details, they can't find you (easily) to pay you the £5,000,000 fee to buy your domain.

It's not specifically due to it being business related. I just tend to be as pedantic about sticking to the standards and preferred practices and such as I am with certain other things.

It is there to provide info on the domain registrant, such as contact information and such. A lot of people, as Albannach mentions, do provide minimal, if any, information, but the preference is to supply as much information as possible. It's like an online telephone directory, (as a simplistic comparison). If you really want to bore yourself silly, Wikipedia gives a fairly decent summary:
